Video Remote Interpreting is available as a pilot project
Tuesday, 28 September 2010 13:59
Truly revolutionary technology is finally coming to everyone's desktop. Since 2008, TranslationPerfect.com has been developing Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) services that would work on any hardware and fit requirements of any organization.  Our goal is to make VRI services simple to use and easy to access. We are now getting to the final stage of the testing process and on October 25th, 2010 the service will become available to a select group of TranslationPerfect.com's clients.  The service is scheduled to run as a pilot project with 6 languages: American Sign Language, Spanish, Russian, Burmese, Laotian and Mandarin.

We always envisioned that VRI services must work on any computer.  As a result, TranslationPerfect.com VRI services will not require any special equipment.  Even web camera is listed as an optional device.

The basic technical specifications for a computer that can utilize TranslationPerfect.com VRI services are:

Processor Intel Atom or better
Operating system Windows XP or better, Mac OS X
Web browser IE 8, FireFox 3, Safari, Chrome
Audio Microphone and speakers
Video WEB camera (optional)
Internet High speed connection (DSL, Cable, 3G, 4G)

In response to increased numbers of manufacturers introducing more touch screen desktops and portable computers, TranslationPerfect.com VRI interface has been revamped to become "finger friendly".  Larger elements of the interface allow easy selection of the tasks even on computers without keyboards.

Healthcare providers and social services workers will appreciate an option that allows them to select an interpreter of a specific gender.

To make access to video interpreters easy, TranslationPerfect.com VRI services are seamlessly integrated into interpreters scheduling and management system.  Length of the video interpreting session, name of the interpreter and other records are electronically stored and can be reviewed on-line.

We are planning to test the service within the next 3 days using Verizon's 3G network.  Come back and read more on exciting developments and our progress.
